NFL Playoff Quarterbacks’ Rookie Cards Skyrocket in Auction Value

As the NFL playoffs heat up, the spotlight isn’t just on the thrilling matchups happening on the field, but also on the rare rookie cards of the top quarterbacks involved in the postseason. These coveted cards have become hot items in online auctions, with collectors and sports memorabilia enthusiasts willing to pay top dollar to add these pieces to their collections. Among the quarterbacks whose rookie cards are seeing a surge in value are Patrick Mahomes II, Brock Purdy, Lamar Jackson, and Jared Goff.

In the AFC Championship game, fans are treated to a clash between two acclaimed quarterbacks. Patrick Mahomes II, a two-time Super Bowl champion, and Lamar Jackson, the frontrunner for the 2023 NFL MVP award, are not only battling it out on the field but also in the world of sports collectibles. Mahomes’ rookie cards have been in high demand, with a 2017 autographed Panini National Treasures Black card selling for an impressive $19,300 on 62 bids. Another standout Mahomes card, a 2017 signed Panini Contenders Rookie Ticket card graded BGS 9.5, fetched $16,577 from 51 bids.

Meanwhile, in the NFC Championship game, Brock Purdy and Jared Goff aim to lead their teams to victory and secure a spot in the Super Bowl. Purdy, a second-year sensation for the San Francisco 49ers, and Goff, an emerging veteran for the Detroit Lions, have also seen their rookie cards skyrocket in value. Purdy’s 2022 Playoff Contenders signed Rookie Ticket “Cracked Ice” variation, graded PSA 10 and one of only 22 made, recently sold for a staggering $10,268 on 27 bids. This follows the trend of Purdy’s rookie cards consistently selling for over $10,000, such as a 2022 National Treasures signed patch card graded PSA 9 that fetched $15,000 on 53 bids.

Lamar Jackson, known for his electrifying style of play, has been a fan favorite since his rookie year. In the world of sports collectibles, his rookie cards are also highly sought after. A Gem-Mint 2018 Panini Prizm Black Finite card featuring Jackson recently fetched an impressive $51,100 on 76 bids. Additionally, a 2018 National Treasures autographed patch card numbered #27/99 and graded BGS 9.5 sold for $18,000 on 39 bids, further highlighting the rising value of Jackson’s rookie cards.

Jared Goff, despite a mixed start with the Los Angeles Rams and subsequent move to the Detroit Lions, is seeing increased interest in his rookie cards. A 2019 Panini Absolute Kaboom! card, a gold variation marked #6/10, recently sold for $3,049 on 50 bids, indicating the growing value of Goff’s cards. Another notable sale was a 2016 Donruss Optic Gold Prizm rookie card marked #2/10 and graded BGS 10, which went for $2,950 on 32 bids.

As the NFL playoffs continue to captivate fans and viewers across the globe, the excitement is not limited to the on-field action. The world of sports memorabilia is buzzing with the rising value of rookie cards belonging to these top quarterbacks. Collector’s value these rare and sought-after cards, making them highly desirable items in online auctions.
