Panini’s Exclusive Deal with LIV Golf Expands Trading Card Portfolio

Panini, known for its sports trading cards, has struck an exclusive deal with LIV Golf, signaling a significant expansion of their portfolio. The collaboration, announced recently, marks Panini’s foray into the world of golf trading cards, a new milestone for the renowned company.

Historically, Panini has a background in golf cards dating back to the Donruss brand cards from the early ’80s. However, this partnership with LIV Golf paves the way for a fresh line of golf trading card products, catering to fans and collectors globally. Under this agreement, Panini secures exclusive rights to produce and distribute trading cards featuring LIV Golf’s players, adding a new dimension to their offerings.

The upcoming trading card collection by Panini will include physical cards, featuring match-worn memorabilia and player autographs. Fans can anticipate the release of LIV Golf trading cards under Panini’s esteemed Prizm and Impeccable brands. Additionally, a real-time Panini Instant card program will capture the essence of tournaments and seasons, showcasing highlights and memorable moments. Team sets from LIV Golf will also be part of Panini’s product lineup, enriching the collectibles landscape.

LIV Golf, established in 2022 with backing from Saudi Arabia, boasts a roster of 54 players committed for 2024. The tour, consisting of 14 stops primarily outside the U.S., incorporates a unique team element in its 54-hole tournaments. Panini has wasted no time in promoting the 2024 LIV team sets on its platform, demonstrating the swift progress of this collaborative effort.

Greg Norman, Commissioner and CEO of LIV Golf, expressed his excitement about the partnership with Panini, emphasizing the prospect of introducing innovative products to a global audience. This venture aims to elevate the visibility of LIV Golf players and teams in the collectibles sphere, with support from prominent figures like Ian Poulter, co-captain of Majesticks GC, who eagerly anticipates the collaboration with the leading trading card brand.

Mark Warsop, CEO of Panini America, recognized the distinctive format of LIV Golf as a catalyst for this exclusive arrangement. Warsop believes that the team and league structure of LIV Golf introduces fresh collectability dimensions for fans. The alignment between LIV Golf’s appeal to younger demographics and its roster of top-tier players aligns seamlessly with Panini’s brand ethos, laying a solid foundation for a fruitful partnership and the cultivation of a devoted fan base.

With the imminent launch of this innovative trading card series, LIV Golf showcases a lineup of prominent players, including major championship winners and golf legends, promising an exciting product range for enthusiasts and collectors. This collaboration coincides with Upper Deck’s upcoming golf set featuring PGA Tour stars, indicative of the growing interest in golf memorabilia and trading cards across the industry.
