Fanatics and Sotheby’s to Auction “Exquisite | Capsule Collection”

Fanatics and Sotheby’s, a dynamic duo in the world of sports collectibles, are set to dazzle enthusiasts once again with their upcoming auction titled “Exquisite | Capsule Collection.” Following the tremendous success of their previous collaboration, which raked in over $7 million in sales from just 33 cards, the anticipation for this new event is palpable.

Their first joint effort, aptly named “Holy Grails,” showcased some of the most sought-after sports cards in existence. From a 1955 Topps Roberto Clemente PSA 9 that fetched an impressive $840,000 to a 2003 LeBron James Exquisite rookie patch autograph sold for $432,000, the auction was a treasure trove for collectors. Not to mention the record-setting Shohei Ohtani card, which became a symbol of the skyrocketing demand for premium sports cards.

With the upcoming “Exquisite | Capsule Collection,” all eyes will be on the exclusive Upper Deck Exquisite cards on offer. These cards, renowned for their exquisite designs, premium materials, and iconic Rookie Patch Autographs (RPAs), have become revered artifacts in the sports card realm. The collection comprises 11 ultra-rare cards, including unique LeBron James masterpieces and a triple Logoman card featuring Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman, paying homage to the illustrious Chicago Bulls dynasty.

More than mere trading cards, these pieces are considered works of art that encapsulate rarity, player significance, and historical value. The legacy of the Exquisite line, pioneered by Karvin Cheung, has left an indelible mark on the sports card industry. Initially met with skepticism due to its high price points, Exquisite eventually rose to become the epitome of luxury in the world of sports collectibles, commanding staggering prices that reflect their cultural impact and desirability.

Scheduled to kick off on December 16th, the “Exquisite | Capsule Collection” auction is expected to draw worldwide attention from avid collectors, shrewd investors, and passionate fans. With Sotheby’s impeccable reputation for curating fine collectibles and the allure of these iconic cards, this event is poised to redefine benchmarks in the sports card market.

Make sure to mark your calendars for this extraordinary opportunity to witness the sale of some of the most exceptional sports cards ever produced. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or a newcomer to the hobby, this auction promises to be a spectacle not to be missed.
