Elite Sports Cards Auction: McDavid, Gretzky, Jordan, and More

In the spotlight of the current PWCC Marketplace Premier event is a selection of sports cards that captivate the essence of collecting. With notable entries such as Connor McDavid’s 2015-16 Upper Deck The Cup Rookie Patch Autograph, graded BGS 9.5 and numbered to 99, this auction promises to be a thrilling showcase for sports card enthusiasts. Already, bidding for McDavid’s card has reached six figures, and with time still remaining, the excitement continues to build.

Among the highly coveted cards up for auction is a Wayne Gretzky rookie card, one of only 93 to achieve a PSA 9 grade. The anticipation is high for this card, as it is expected to command a price exceeding $100,000. Michael Jordan, a legend in the basketball world, also contributes to the auction’s prestige with one of his 1997 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems Red cards. Despite its ‘Authentic/Altered’ designation, this card highlights its rarity and desirability among collectors of Jordan memorabilia.

The auction doesn’t stop at hockey and basketball; it extends into baseball and football, offering equally impressive cards. Vintage baseball cards include a 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #181, rated PSA 6, a 1948 Leaf Ruth SGC 8, and two 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle cards with SGC 4 and PSA 3 grades, respectively. Additionally, a 1952 Berk Ross Mantle at SGC 8 adds to the allure of this baseball collection.

Football enthusiasts will find Patrick Mahomes well-represented in the auction. Highlights include a 2017 Panini National Treasures Red NFL Shield 1/1 RPA graded BGS 9, truly a rare find, and a Panini Prizm Gold rookie auto, rated BGS 9.5. These cards showcase the talent of the three-time Super Bowl champion, making them highly sought after by collectors.

The auction also features other memorabilia from the legendary Michael Jordan. Collectors will find a 1984-85 Star Company XRC (BGS 8.5), a 1986-87 Fleer rookie card (BGS 9.5), a 1997 Finest Embossed Refractor #/74 (PSA 10), and a 2003-04 Topps Chrome Xfractor LeBron James rookie #/220 (BGS 9.5), further enriching the collection’s diversity and overall appeal.

Bidding for these extraordinary sports cards will remain open until February 22, providing collectors with a unique opportunity to acquire some of the most sought-after pieces in sports card history. Spanning multiple sports and eras, each card carries its own story of athletic excellence and rarity, making them true gems for any collector. Don’t miss out on this chance to own a piece of sports history.
