CGC Cards and JSA Collaborate for Autographed Cards Authentication

Exciting news for autographed card collectors and dealers as CGC Cards™ and James Spence Authentication® (JSA®) unveil their partnership for a seamless submission process of autographed cards. This collaboration covers various types of cards from trading card games (TCGs) to sports and non-sports cards, aiming to enhance the experience of collectors and dealers.

In anticipation of the National Sports Card Convention from July 24-28, Certified Collectibles Group® (CCG®) announced the launch of the integrated CGC Cards and JSA service on July 15, 2024. This innovative service allows individuals to submit their autographed cards for JSA authentication and CGC Cards grading and encapsulation in one streamlined procedure.

Following the successful rollout of CGC x JSA certification for comics in May, this expansion into card authentication signifies a new chapter in the collectibles industry. With CCG’s acquisition of JSA earlier this year, the collaboration aims to provide combined authentication and grading services for magazines, pulps, and concert posters in the near future.

As the National Sports Card Convention approaches, collectors and dealers can take advantage of the CGC x JSA certification services for cards at the event. Beyond accepting submissions at the show and through mail, CGC Cards will offer comprehensive on-site services, enabling instant authentication, grading, and encapsulation of cards for attendees.

Having pioneered witnessed signature authentication through the CGC Signature Series for comics in 2001, CGC is now expanding its offerings with the imminent launch of the CGC Signature Series for cards. This extension of services, in collaboration with JSA, caters to autograph collectors with a comprehensive range of options.

Established in 2005 by James Spence, Jr., JSA has earned a stellar reputation as a premier autograph authentication service. Leveraging the world’s largest autograph database with nearly 1 million images, JSA employs cutting-edge technology to ensure precise authentication, setting a high standard in the industry.

Autographed cards certified by CGC and JSA will boast a distinctive CGC x JSA Authentic Autograph label, showcasing both brand names and the “Authentic Autograph” designation in yellow. This color choice, historically used by CGC, denotes genuine signatures. Additionally, autograph grading can be requested, with the grade prominently displayed on the label alongside the card’s grade and description. Encapsulated cards will feature CGC Cards Grader Notes for detailed signer information.

For elite cards, CGC Cards presents the opulent gold CGC x JSA Pristine 10 label, exclusively reserved for cards achieving a CGC Pristine 10 grade, indicating the highest quality and condition standards.

Steven R. Eichenbaum, CEO of CCG, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, citing 2024 as a pivotal year for CCG. James J. Spence, Jr., JSA President, expressed his excitement over launching combined card services at The National, fulfilling a longstanding request from collectors.

To learn more about submitting cards for CGC x JSA certification, collectors can explore the CGC Cards website. Submission details are available through the online form, where collectors can opt for “JSA Autograph Authentication” after selecting their preferred grading tier. Pricing for JSA autograph authentication varies based on the chosen grading tier, with additional CGC Cards grading fees applicable.

CGC and JSA are dedicated to delivering top-notch services to collectors worldwide, ensuring meticulous handling and expert authentication of every submission. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the collectibles industry, promising an elevated collecting experience for enthusiasts globally.
